Xero is billed as the world’s easiest accounting system designed for small businesses and their advisers.
Interestingly, from the authors point of view, Xero is available globally and can be customised to fit all your local tax and business needs. For businesses based in the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand there are additional localised taxation features available unlike some other systems that the author has tried where they have been almost impossible to use in the UK (even down to simple things like showing a VAT number and company registration details on invoices etc).
It is possible to sign up for a free trial of the software and their website says that it costs between £12 and £24 a month with the most suitable package for small businesses costing £19 per month. From the looks of the xero website you can even let your accountant log in and view your accounts meaning that you get advice when you need it. Of course, to be able to do this we would recommend that you use a firm of xero accountants such as Duncan Toplis, this firm of accountants has offices across Lincolnshire and the East Midlands but when you are using on-line accounting systems their location is not so important.
