The number of postings has dried up a little recently as we have moved from Peterborough to a small village just outside of Llanrwst in North Wales.
As you can imagine this has caused a certain amount of upheaval with addresses having to be changed on all sorts of paperwork and having to find local suppliers of many services, although we were fortunate to be able to keep our broadband supplier ( IDNET who we would recommend for their friendly speedy service if you are looking for ADSL services ).
It is amazing the number of things that you have to remember when moving – fortunately we found and were able to adapt a “moving list” on the UK Home Information site that seems very comprehensive. One item that we did have to change on our website is the local links page– previously this was aimed very much at Peterborough and we felt that rather than remove all of the Peterborough links we should split the page into two sections Llanrwst and Peterborough (after all, just because we have moved does not mean that the links are no longer valid as they all pointed to organisations and businesses that had impressed us in the past).
There is a marked change between Peterborough and our current location. We can now look out of the window at the snow covered mountains of Snowdonia and yet are only a few minutes away from what we believe is one of the best restaurants we have ever visited (attached to a very pleasant hotel), a few minutes more and we can be in the North Wales towns of Conwy and Llandudno and, using the A55 and motorways, in a hour can be in cities such as Liverpool and Manchester.
Having made the move, is there anything that we would have done differently? Yes – moving a week before the snow set in in North Wales may not have been such a smart move, although a 4×4 solved the transport problems and the broadband speed could be a little faster but apart from that we would recommend the area to anyone that is thinking they need to move away from more populated areas and yet still have access to major towns and cities if they need it.
